Private Ice is ice time reserved for individual or semi-private lessons for multiple skaters. The skater can practice on their own during this ice time or they can schedule a time for a lesson with one of our coaches. The skater must schedule their own private lesson with a coach. See the Coaches page for contact information. Private ice cost is paid to NUFSC but coaching fees are paid directly to the coach. If your coach is not there and you are signed up for private ice you can still use your ice to practice. Refunds will not be permitted if your coach is not there. If you are receiving lessons from a coach on New Ulm Civic Center Open Skate and you are a NUFSC club member, you MUST be purchasing private ice contracts through the club.

Parents of private ice skaters purchasing a contract will need to sign up to do one hour of ice monitoring per skater they have on private ice. If you do not sign up and complete your required hour(s) by the end of the session, you will be charged $35 per uncompleted hour. Extra ice monitoring hours completed will be credited $7 per hour in club credit with a maximum of 3 hours per session per family.

- Registration will be first come first serve when registering on the website. Confirm lesson times with your coach before sign up.
- One Ice Monitoring hour is required per session per skater. Sign up information is emailed with the private ice registration confirmation and can also be found on the Parent Portal Bulletin Board/Message. Ice monitors take attendance, help younger skaters with skates, if needed, hand the harness over to coaches if requested and watch over the skaters if they need anything.
All skaters MUST come over and say their name to the ice monitor before skating on the contract. Private Ice Minimum Recommendations for skaters who wish to do private ice and/or have private lessons:
Beg. 1 – Beta: 1/2 Contract (15 – 30 minute lesson with coach)
Gamma – FS 2: 1 Contract (30 minute lesson, 30 minutes of self practice)
FS 3 and above: 2 Contracts (30 minute lesson, the rest of the time should be self practice)

Registration is through the Parent Portal (DanceStudio-Pro or DSP). A video on how to set up an account can be found here. How to use the Parent Portal can be viewed here. You can also download the app for either Apple or Android by searching for DanceStudio-Pro Portal.
The private ice schedule can be found on the Calendar. Effective Sept. 1, 2022 rates are $17/hour for members and those with reciprocity that purchase a contract. Walk-ons are $20 per hour for members. Non-member rate is $23/hour.
To pay with a credit card or ACH, head over to our new Parent Portal system, log in with your account and pay from there! You can also check your balances, see classes you registered for, look at our club calendar, etc!
Or, pay with check or cash directly to the club for no fees. Just drop your payment in the drop box in the North Rink next to the NUFSC bulletin board. Once we get your payment, we will update your Parent Portal account.
However you choose to pay, our new system is a one stop shop to see all upcoming news, register for classes, see emails from the club, and you can contact us with questions from there too.
Non-members should also create an account on the Parent Portal. To purchase walk-on time, they should go to the Online Shop in the Parent Portal and choose the correct walk-on type: associate member, reciprocity member, or non-member. All walk-ons are one hour. Payment can be made through the Parent Portal or by placing a check in the North Rink drop box.
